Stretch and Staple was started by me, Taylor McAtee out of my passion for capturing the beauty that's present in the world around us, but not often seen. I choose to capture these scenes with multiple exposure photography. Almost all of the work on this site is High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR). What that basically means is that I take several different shots of each subject at different exposure values. Some over exposed(letting too much light in to the camera) and some under exposed(not letting enough light into the camera.) I then layers all of these separate exposures on top of each other, pulling out what I like from each individual exposure through computer based algorithms. That is where the real artwork begins. I can spend anywhere from 2 to 12 hours on any one piece that I see through to production. For every 2000 images shot only about 20 make it to what I call the "trial" phase and of those 20 two or three will make it all the way through to production.Hopefully that gives you some idea of what this work is all about.
